Vermicelli Halwa

Ingredients for Vermicelli Halwa

  • Vermecicelli (Semaiya) - 100 gms. (1 cup)
  • Ghee - 1 table spoon.
  • Sugar - 75 gms. (3/4 cups)
  • Cashews - 10-12 (cut each into 5-6 pieces)
  • Almonds - 6-7 (cut in length)
  • Raisins - 20-25 (break the stems and wash them)
  • Cardamom - 4-5 (peel and grind)

Method - How to make Vermicelli Halwa

Pour ghee in a pan and heat it. Put vermicelli into it and roast it until brown. Once the vermicelli turns brown in colour turn off the flame.

Take out the roasted vermicelli on a plate. The ghee will be left out in the pan as vermicelli do not absorbs much ghee. Pour 3 times water of the vermicelli and boil it. (Pour 3 cup water for 1 cup vermicelli).

Put the roasted vermicelli into the boiled water along with chopped almonds, raisins and cashews. Save few almonds for later use to garnish the halwa. Cook the vermicelli on medium flame till it becomes tender.

Now add sugar in the recipe and cook till the sugar dissolves. Vermicelli Halwa is ready. Turn off the flame and mix cardamom into it.

Take out the Vermicelli Halwa in a serving bowl. Garnish it with remaining chopped almonds. Serve hot Vermicelli Halwa to your family members.
